Documentation

In order to better help our students with disabilities, the following information will need to be on file with the Academic Skills Lab:

  • The most current copy of a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan with the accommodations listed (preferably from the senior year, but it must include accommodations).
  • A copy of the student’s psychological report that is no more than 3 years old.
  • A copy of the Accommodation Request Form that has been completed by the student.
  • A signed Consent Form.

Support Services

Drop in tutors are available in specific courses for both the College Applied Technologies and Colleges of Business. Drop in tutoring is free of charge and students do not need to make an appointment. Drop in tutoring takes place in room 13114 located in the 13000 building.

Peer tutoring is available to all of our student at a cost of $4/hour. All of our tutors are required to have earned a “B” or higher in their courses and maintaining a 2.0 or higher GPA.

Smarthinking is an online tutoring service that is available for all students, free of charge. Smarthinking allows students to receive help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides tutors in Math, Biology, Writing, Economics, Finance, Anatomy, and Physiology. Students can schedule individual tutoring sessions, submit questions and will receive a response within 24 hours, or you can stop by for a "walk-in" visit. Anyone wishing to utilize Smarthinking can email Danielle McClure at dmcclure@unoh.edu for a username and password.

The lab also works with students on an individual basis for help in the following areas:

  • Test Anxiety
  • Organization Help
  • Time Management

To meet with the Academic Skills Coordinator for help in these particular areas, set up an appointment for an individual consult.
